Americlean Sandblasting Processes

Commercial and industrial building exteriors, interiors, equipment or machined surfaces often require professional cleaning, de-painting or de-burring. Sandblasting is also a very effective method for removing graffiti or “tagging” on the exterior of buildings. Master Blaster of Americlean offers a wide variety of sand blasting services, including:

Sandblasting

The traditional method for smoothing, shaping or cleaning of a variety of surface (outlined below) producing results similar to using sandpaper, but creating a more even finish without problems at corners.

The sandblasting process requires silica particles to be shot across the surface at high speeds without damaging the surface. Sandblasting can be used in a variety of ways, from creating 3-dimensional signage to works of art to refurbishing and cleaning. Traditionally, sandblasting is used for brick or concrete cleaning work in both industrial and commercial settings.

Soda Blasting

Similar to sand blasting, soda blasting uses sodium bicarbonate against the surface. Combined with compressed air, soda blasting does not cause harm to the substrate or the environment and was first used to clean the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor. Soda blasting easily removes carbon, grease, oil, gasket material and surface corrosion on a variety of surfaces.

Aluminum Oxide Blasting

A low cost, recyclable way to sand blast. This method does not contain free silica, making it safer to use than sand. It’s more consistent grit size cuts faster than sand and leaves a smoother surface. Aluminum Oxide is hard and sharp, allowing this blasting process to cut through even the hardest metals.

Sponge-Jet Cleaning

This dry, low dust version of sand blasting uses minimal contaminants to clean a wide range of surface profiles. Sponge-Jet cleaning’s controllability allows varying sand blast pressures and medias to protect the surface. The varying sizes and grades of abrasives make sponge-jet cleaning perfect for any surface, from the toughest to the most sensitive, ideal for post fire restoration and stain removal from steel, concrete or wood.

Dry Ice Blasting

A relatively new sandblasting surface cleaning method where CO2 pellets, also known as dry ice, are accelerated in a pressurized air stream and directed at the surface. As the CO2 pellets hit and clean the surface they sublimate (turn directly from dry ice pellets into water vapor) leaving no chemical residue. This sandblasting process is environmentally friendly with little, or no production down-time. Dry Ice blasting is primarily used in industrial settings.

Hydro (Water) Blasting

Hydro (Water) Blasting uses a highly pressurized stream of water to clean without damaging the original surface. Water blasting has become popular for several reasons, including its ability to reharness the benefits of using water. It is environmentally friendly and produces little to no waste. It is ideal for those hard to reach and previously deemed unreachable places. Hydroblasting is often used to remove old chemicals, paints or other build up. Americlean’s also offers Power Pressure Washing <link to pressure washing page>

What surfaces are safe to Sandblast?

Most materials can be sandblasted, including, but not limited to:

  • Concrete
  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Brick
  • Stone
  • Wood
  • Plastic
  • Glass
  • Metals
  • Brass
  • Aluminum
  • Pewter
  • Silver

Metal can be sandblasted to remove rust and sharp edges or as a way to enhance adhesion of coatings and adhesives.

Wood and brick surfaces can be sandblasted to remove many years of soil, paint, oil and dirt to produce clean surfaces and preparation for industrial painting or commercial painting.

Plastics can be sandblasted, but must be done very carefully, as sandblasting is highly abrasive and will wear plastic surfaces away quickly if not done properly.
