Compare tube cleaning equipment
Large runs of pipe or tubing are especially difficult to clean when they become corroded or filled with debris, and often, special tube cleaning equipment is needed to complete the job correctly. Keeping these lines clean is often a necessity for the safety and efficiency of the machinery that is served by the system. Such pipes and tubes are found in air conditioning and heating equipment, as well as in other applications.
The typical set of tube cleaning equipment consists of a power unit, a flexible rotating shaft, and various attachments that connect to the end of the cleaning shaft. For many tasks, the system can be used dry, or when the job requires, water can be fed into the unit to help clean the pipe and flush out the debris that is removed from the line. A foot pedal is used to advance or reverse the cleaning shaft in the pipe, and it also controls the rotational speed of the head.
In order to power the tube cleaning equipment, either air or electricity is used. The air-powered, or pneumatic, version uses pressurized air to rotate the cleaning shaft and pump water, and, therefore, can be used in places where electricity cannot, due to safety reasons or the lack of electricity. For situations in which there is electricity and no danger of electrocution, electric tube cleaning equipment is a good alternative, and is often the least expensive option. Each type is available in a number of models, allowing most sizes and types of pipe to be cleaned easily.
There are many types of heads available to use with tube cleaning equipment. A steel brush attachment can be used for light corrosion or cleaning. When the rust or debris is very thick, a cutting head can be used, and its multiple blades on it ensure that the pipe is cleaned thoroughly. To finish the job, and protect the pipe afterwards, polishing heads can be employed to smooth out the interior surface of the line. Also available are several specialty attachments for specific types of work, as well as parts for repairing the system. With the correct tube cleaning equipment, it is much easier to maintain large sections of pipe, lessening the frequency of required repairs in the future.
