Stackable washing machines, a big space saver
One great way to conserve space in a crowded laundry room is to buy a stackable washer and dryer. By stacking your washer and dryer you’ll use up half of the floor space that you’d use with two separate units and all you’ll lose is some space up by the ceiling you never used anyways. When you imagine a stackable washer and dryer, you’re probably thinking that the washer is some kind of awkward side door machine that is difficult to use and spills water everywhere. Well it’s not true since most stackable washer and dryer units have a top load washer with a side door dryer, just like most traditional washer and dryers.
When you buy a stackable washer and dryer, generally the washer is on the bottom half. This is because as clothes are being clean they are full of water and very heavy. During the spin cycle the machine could potentially become unbalanced and fall over due to being top heavy. The dryer isn’t as violent as the washing machine and because of the way it spins it’s not nearly as likely to fall over. When you have a stackable washer and dryer all of the controls are conveniently located right in the middle of the two units.
The most convenient aspect of a stackable washer and dryer is really just how small the whole unit is. Even if you don’t have a laundry room in your house, you’d be surprised how easy it is to stick one in a closet or in a corner of a room. Most stackable washer and dryers are slightly smaller than a standard washer and dryer however so you may find yourself doing more frequent but smaller loads.
