Industrial
Security
For many businesses industrial security is an issue of the utmost
importance. Industrial security encompasses many different areas.
For instance, industrial security deals with the issues of securing
a facility through means such as burglar alarms, security guards
and patrol services, and modernized security cameras and monitoring
systems. Another area of concern when dealing with industrial
security pertains to employees and their confidential identity.
These records are vitally important to keep safe.
Here is a list of common industrial
security items:
· Safety Switches-these guard switches are used to detect openings of
doors, gates, and can even protect certain areas of machines from being operated.
· Security Cameras- can be either black and white or color. Always ask
about guarantees and warranties when purchasing industrial security equipment.
Cameras range in sizes and styles, from large cameras that are visible with the
naked eye, to small discreet cameras that you would never be aware of. Outdoor
cameras are weatherproof and can withstand freezing temperatures, snow, and rain.
With the utilization of fiber optics and dry nitrogen, these cameras can hold
their own in the outside environment.
· Access Control Systems- these are designed to only allow authorized
people access into business facility. They can vary in applications but serve
the same purpose. Some examples of Access Control Systems are fingerprint verification;
telephone entry systems, standalone systems that operate by keying in a code
or password, face recognition, bar code reader, and card readers.
· Digital Recorder- for industries that require the use of motor vehicles
to transport items, there are digital recorders that will serve as cameras and
record at the same time.
· GPS Tracking Systems- these are suitable for tracking moving vehicles
while they are on the road. With a GPS Tracking System, the information is relayed
back to a computer, and will allow for the data to be transferred to a map. No matter which method of industrial security your business
chooses, be sure to always read the fine print in any contracts
that you must sign, and discuss the warranties and guarantees
of any services. If using a security or patrol system, ask for
references and make sure that you fully trust the company you
hire.
